How to renew car tax

There are a few ways in which you can renew your car tax and, these are:

Online

You can renew your road tax online by visiting https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-direct-debit/renewing and entering your details and the details of your vehicle (make sure you have these to hand before beginning).

The Post Office

Although some may consider this option a bit old fashioned and time consuming, it can be convenient for those who don’t feel confident using the internet.  In order to renew your car tax at the Post Office, you’ll first need to check that your local office offers the service. If so, you’ll need to take along either a V11 DVLA reminder or a V5C registration document for the vehicle as well as a valid MOT certificate.  You can find your nearest applicable Post Office HERE.

By telephone

Another more traditional method of renewing your road tax is by phone – you can do this by calling the DVLA on 0300 123 4321, making sure that you have all your paperwork handy.
